Yeah, I'm aware that the saga of my new Mac doesn't interest anyone. But I don't care. It's something that makes me happy. I was sans computer for a month or two before I got this lovely machine and when I did get it, I wasn't disappointed in the least. So I'm jumping for joy (figuratively) that my prodigal iMac is back home and safe and 100% better.
Today's Friday, the end of the work week. Louisa and I are going to see "The Nightmare Before Christmas" in digital 3D in Wilmington this weekend. To be honest, I'm embarassed to say that I've never seen this movie before. I've certainly seen bits of it and I've played through it on both Kingdom Hearts games, but I've never gotten around to seeing the original. I'm excited to see it.
Then we'll get some delicious cider donuts and eat apple pie (I like pie). All in all, it sounds like a perfect weekend. So, poor iMac, I must be leaving you alone until Sunday. Sorry, friend.
Unfortunately, my new computer has to make a visit to the shop for a few days. The Superdrive seems to not want to work like its supposed to, spitting discs out a few seconds after I put them in.
It's a shame because I'm just now getting the hang of everything and I'm still excited to learn more. I don't blame Apple. These things happen. I'll be sure, though, to get the Apple Care extended warranty soon.
So I'll have a hole in the computer desk for a few days. How will I survive?
Yes, I've made the switch. With my order today, I am soon to be the proud owner of a 20-inch Core 2 Duo iMac.
This is like the first computer I've bought for myself in a decade and I'm so excited. It's been awhile since I've had something resembling high tech for a computer, so I'm glad to have one of the top-of-the-line consumer Macs out there.
So, does anyone out there with Mac experience have any advice? What software is a must have?
I've been without a computer for the past few weeks because mine chose right before vacation to die. It's okay, it was 5 years old and had lived a long life.
He was a free computer, one I got when I worked at Comcast. So actually this is the first computer I've bought since my first one and I plan to make it good.
I've picked out the new 20 inch Core 2 Duo iMac. It's got everything I need, a huge screen, and it just looks cool.
I decided to defect to Mac because you can finally run Windows on it when you want. Of course, the irony is that once I sat down and thought about it, I really can't think of one program that I can't find the same function for on a Mac. That being said, the freedom to jump around from Mac OSX to Windows (XP or Vista) or Linux (I wanna play with Ubuntu) means it's a great computer for someone like me who likes to tinker around with software.
I was already impatient when Louisa asked me on Friday if I wanted to go to the Apple Store on Saturday. It didn't help matters when I was actually able to play with one. This made me want one that instant! Now I'm dying to have one.
Anyone else out there switching?
